One woman who used to intern at Epic Records as a young girl claims R. Kelly had sexually assaulted her when she was just a 16-year-old. Tracy Sampson, who was 16-years-old at the time of summer 1999, claims Kelly had abused her when she worked there.
Tracy, who spoke with NBC’s Dateline in her first on-camera interview, said Kelly had tried to kiss her when she was underage, and then went on to start a sexual relationship with her. According to Sampson, Kelly asked her if he could kiss her, she said no, and then he hugged and kissed her anyway.
“I was in love with him,” Tracy said, however, she supposedly didn’t know what to do because she didn’t understand what was normal and what wasn’t. Sampson didn’t know how adults acted. The 36-year-old sat down with reporters from NBC just two weeks after the release of Surviving R. Kelly on Lifetime.
The 52-year-old singer has denied all allegations. In the past, the star was accused of creating child pornography when he appeared to urinate on a teenage girl. However, he wasn’t proven guilty due to the inability to confirm that it was, indeed, R. Kelly on the tape.

Charges were dropped and he was acquitted in 2008. Kelly has been sued by a number of different women during his lifetime as well. Once Tracy turned 18-years-old, she filed a lawsuit against him, claiming sexual abuse.
She settled for $250,000 in 2002. Steven Greenberg, who was not Kelly’s lawyer at that time, said he didn’t work as R. Kelly’s counsel in the early 2000s, but he is quite adamant his client hasn’t done a thing wrong.
Furthermore, Greenberg claims there is no credible evidence that Kelly has slept with underage women. When Dateline questioned why there were so many women coming out at once, Greenberg said. “there’s not ‘all these women,'” there are only a few.

Greenberg went on to say that Kelly is going through a lot right now. The record companies are all dropping him and other artists act like they’re shocked to hear about the rumors, but his client is “strong, he’s tough.”
