One of Hollywood's premiere golden girls, Goldie Hawn, and her dashing movie star partner, Kurt Russell, have been together for 40 years. The pair have seen their fair share of exciting and wild times together, starting with their first meeting at the Playboy Club and ending with a run-in with the police! We take an inside look at the timeline of some of the most noteworthy moments of their relationship.
Before meeting the love of her life, Kurt Russell, Goldie Hawn had her fair share of dating around after divorcing her first husband and then her second husband and father of her two eldest children - Bill Hudson. When she appeared on BBC's "The Graham Norton Show" with Amy Schumer, the guests discussed men and dating at one particular moment during the segment.
Hawn then switched gears and turned the conversation to talking about some of the worst things to happen on a date. She spoke about how she had forgotten about one incredibly horrible date on which she ended up throwing up when her date had tried to kiss her, which Hawn said had made her sick. She proceeded to roll down her window and puke.

Carrying on with the conversation on relationships and dating, Hawn then appeared on her eldest son - Oliver Hudson's podcast that he hosts with his wife, Erinn Hudson, on an episode discussing her life earlier this year. Noting that she felt it was the right time to discuss how her relationship with her ex-husband started and ended, Hawn divulged the details of her past relationship.
Hawn's son starts by giving some background knowledge about his mother having been married twice before finding Russell, to whom she is not married. She met her first husband, Gus Trikonis when she was 20 and married him when she was 23. Though, according to Hawn, marrying at such a tender age was not the norm at that time, she describes how it was always one of her dreams to have the white picket fence with children.
She had met Trikonis when they were dancers at a theatre where both were a part of musicals. The two met backstage and immediately hit it off, and while chatting about their birthdays and star signs, they discovered that they were both born on the same day - November 21.

Trikonis was eight years older than Hawn, and they started dating soon after they first met. However, after some time, he left her to perform a gig in Las Vegas but then called her while there and said he loved her. Hawn was utterly smitten by his profession but said she never heard from him again after that.
Hawn worried incessantly over the sudden disconnect from their relationship and eventually discovered that Trikonis was engaging in an affair, but the two went on to marry anyway. After seven years of marriage, the couple divorced in 1976. Later that same year, Hawn married her second husband, Hudson, and the two went on to have Oliver and Kate.
Their marriage only lasted four years, and they divorced in 1980. Since their divorce, the family ties between Hudson and his former wife and kids have been strained to say the least. The family dynamic grew estranged after his kids took jabs about how Hudson had allegedly been an absent father and their outright claims about how Russell then stepped in to be an instrumental father figure to them.

Kurt & Goldie: A Love Timeline
1966: Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell Meet on Set
The year was 1968, and production for "The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band" had begun. Hawn and Russell met each other for the first time on the movie set but did not engage in any romantic relationship until a decade later.
However, the "Death Becomes Her" star was intrigued by Russell. She was 21, and he was 16, and though Hawn thought he was cute, she initially thought he was much too young for her.

1983: Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn Reconnect for a First Date & an Intimate Moment
After a fun late night out with his dad, a hungover Russell got up early to make a script reading for a film. As he recounts the story, Russell admits that even though he had met Hawn many years before this second meeting, he had only vaguely remembered her but still didn't entirely know who she was.
Deciding to catch up on some sleep while waiting to be called into the test room, Russell was woken up by a secretary who then escorted him into the room. Upon entering, the first person he saw was a stunning-looking Hawn, and Russell remembered immediately blurting out that she had a great physique, to which she thanked him.
Clearly, the feeling was mutual because shortly after starting production on their second film together, a tongue-in-cheek sign was pasted on Hawn's trailer, alluding to the two of them possibly getting busy. Fast forwarding to Russell and Hawn's first date, the duo was set to star in the World War II-based film "Swing Shift" where Russell would play a trumpet player.

Worried about the possibility of having to dance in the production, Russell and Hawn decided to seek out a party with Swing music they could practice dancing to, and apparently, the Playboy Club was the only place that played that type of music, so off they went. The pair had an incredible night filled with laughter and fun, and Russell reports that they had, in fact, never even gotten around to the dancing aspect of the date.
After deciding that their night was far from being over, the two broke into a house that Hawn was renovating and started getting intimate when the police walked in on them. Luckily, the couple got off with a warning and were simply told to go and book a hotel room instead.

1984: Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell Costar in "Swing Shift"
"Swing Shift" was the production that skyrocketed Hawn and Russell's love story, and it was after Hawn's divorce from Hudson. The duo became an official couple, and Hawn even introduced Russell to Oliver and Kate.
Look-alike daughter, Kate, recalled her and her brother's initial encounter with Russell in which they had not officially met him yet because they were asleep. Kate recounted how Russell had just watched them sleep that first night and then returned to meet them properly the next time they were awake.

Russell, Oliver, and Kate immediately hit it off, and Hawn was thrilled to know that her kids liked him. She disclosed that what sealed the deal for her in knowing Russell was the one was how he interacted with her kids:
"What really got me was when I watched my kids when they'd come to the set and how he was with them. He was amazing with them. He was such a natural."

July 10, 1986: Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell Welcome Their First Child Together, Son Wyatt
Prior to having a relationship with each other, as mentioned before, Hawn was already a mother of two - Oliver and Kate, whom she had with her ex-husband. Similarly, Russell already had one son with his ex-wife, Season Hubley - Boston.
After three years together, Russell and Hawn welcomed their first and only child together - Wyatt, on July 10, 1986. The couple had added one other final addition to their already blended family.

March 29, 1989: Kurt Russell Almost Proposes at the Oscars
At the 1989 Oscars, Hawn and Russell took the stage to present the award for Best Director together. As the two talked about the award, the conversation then turned into a flirtatious banter in which Hawn started to liken her and Russell's relationship to some key themes in the film.
She then went on to say that the two are everything to each other - costars, friends, lovers, and a couple. After she finished, Russell added that there is only one cohort the couple does not subscribe to - married couples. Hawn giggled and then asked whether that meant that Russell would be proposing to her, and Russell simply stated that the two will discuss it in private later.

2003: Goldie Hawn Gave up Her Career for Her Family: She, Kurt, and Their Kids Moved to Canada for Their Son's Hockey Career
In support of Wyatt's hockey career, which began picking up steam when he was 16 years old, Russell and Hawn packed up their life and family and moved to Canada. At the time, Wyatt had been selected for a position to play with a high-level team in Vancouver.
During a press conference in Los Angeles, Russell informed the public that he had purchased a family home in Canada so they could all be there for Wyatt. The move required both stars to put their careers on the back burner regardless of their commitment to travel back and forth between LA and Vancouver.
Showing off the more tender side of their relationship, in January of 2021, Hawn was seen holding an adorable Golden retriever puppy named Roy Hawn Russell, which was gifted to her by her loving partner.

After raising their kids into young adults, Hawn became very eager to become a grandparent. In interviews, she would overtly express how much fun she would have if her kids decided to have children of their own:
"I would love to be a grandmother. I'm not pushing the matter, but it would be so much fun."
Shortly after, Hawn's prayers were answered when her daughter Kate announced she was pregnant with her first child. Ryder Russell Robinson was welcomed on January 8, 2004, and made Hawn and Russell grandparents for the first time.

In 2017, Russell and Hawn were honored with their own stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The event was an emotional lovefest with sweet interactions exchanged between the two lovebirds, to which paparazzi had a front-row seat.
While posing by their neighboring stars, the couple shared a tender kiss and held hands. Russell had even dedicated a considerable part of his acceptance speech to Hawn, which she did not expect.

Hawn told People how emotional she had been when she heard her partner's loving tribute to her. Russell's speech, which she had referred to as extremely beautiful, included the following words:
"To you, I owe my wonderful life. Simply put, Goldie, I cherish you. All the stars in the sky or on the boulevard can't hold a candle to that [and] there's no one else I'd rather be next to for all of that than Goldie Hawn."

Love & Laughter for 40 years
This year marks 40 years of romantic bliss for the happy couple, and they still remain committed to each other more so than ever. When it comes to professing their love for one another, the duo never misses an opportunity to express how lucky they are in love.
Having one of the longest-lasting relationships in Tinseltown, Hawn and Russell have been through many momentous life events by each other's side. The "Bird on a Wire" talent reveals their secret to having lasted this long:
"Love, gratitude, compassion, because sometimes every man or every woman will drive their partner crazy. Family, fun, laughs [and] sex. If you don't nurture that and remember, [then] you're done."
Hawn is in constant awe of the incredible partner Russell remains to her. As the patriarch of their blended family, she describes him as phenomenal, collaborative, and inspiring.
On the countless occasions that they have been spotted out together, the duo's interactions have been frequently likened to classic teenagers completely enthralled with one another. The pair present a spitting image of how they were when they first got together years ago - young, cool, wild, and in love.
While their love story is certainly one to marvel at, many wonder why the pair chose not to wed, especially since they have been together for four decades and have watched almost all their children get married. According to Hawn, the couple is just fine with their decision not to marry as they have both tried before with previous partners, which ended up not working out:
"The point is that we all tried marriage, and sometimes marriage doesn't work [and] it's okay. It's not about the marriage. It's about the people and the relationship and the will to stay together."
Instead of focusing on the public's opinion of getting married, the two lovebirds have poured themselves into their family, which expands to their total of six grandchildren. The happy couple remains blessed and grateful to be fortunate enough to have such a big and loving family who love celebrating family vacations together.
On one special family vacation, Hawn quips about how obsessed Russell had become with a particular RV model, which he ended up purchasing, and the Hawn-Russell clan went camping. Even though Hawn reported not being the camping type, she recalled how much fun they all had on the trip. This trip was particularly memorable because they shared what was reported as the grandest laughing fit the family has ever had.
The togetherness of the entire family on this trip was particularly heartwarming for the mama bear, who adores every chance she gets to enjoy the company of her family. When spending quality time with her partner, she falls in love all over again.
Russell is ever the doting partner to his love and always makes sure he supports Hawn in everything she does. He even goes so far as to ensure her interview spaces are well-designed and comfortable enough for Hawn to conduct her interviews during the lockdown period.
As if their relationship could not get any more adorable, during a 2017 interview with James Corden, Hawn revealed that she and Russell had sat down and watched their movie "Overboard" together for the first time. Hawn describes how watching that movie with the love of her life reminded her why she fell in love with him in the first place:
"We turned it on, and we got so excited and...we laid in the bed, and we watched the movie, and we hadn't seen it from the beginning because we don't watch our movies. I mean, we had so much fun, and I will tell you, you know how sometimes you forget why you fell in love? I remembered everything and why I fell in love, and it was really something to be able to watch that."
If there is one thing that trumps their passion for creating cinematic masterpieces, it's being grandparents to their six grandkids. Russell and Hawn adore spending time with their grandchildren, and the couple frequently hosts them at their beautiful home.
The two feel honored to be so intricately a part of the lives of their grandchildren. Hawn claims that it's exciting for her and Russell to watch them grow into their own personalities and to know that one day all of them will be able to take an interest in their grandparents' incredible careers.
To say Hawn and Russell's relationship is filled with dynamic and crazy fun would accurately sum their union up. The pair is frequently seen showing off the very goofy side of their relationship in most of Hawn's posts about them. On one amusing date night, Hawn and Russell are seen jokingly playing around with puppets at a dinner table with their family, and Hawn's caption makes a joke about how the two were working on their communication skills.
Showing off the more tender side of their relationship, in January of 2021, Hawn was seen holding an adorable Golden retriever puppy named Roy Hawn Russell, which was gifted to her by her loving partner. Little Roy was the fifth addition to their dog family.
Hawn and Russell's love story is certainly one that has stood the test of time. Some might even go so far as to say that their paths were always destined to cross since the fateful day they met and then meeting again at the right time when they could pursue a romantic relationship. Their golden four-decade-long relationship is still celebrated and cherished by the couple and everyone who loves them.
